Invitation: Break O’Day Road Bridge Replacement Project Update

Murrindindi Shire Council invites you to attend a meeting to hear an update on the Break O’Day Road Bridge Replacement Project.

Meeting details: Time: 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm, Wednesday 5 April 2023
Location: Glenburn Community Hall, 3876 Melba Highway, Glenburn

Council has received partial funding from the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program to replace Break O’Day Road Bridge. Council will install a bridge that is compliant to current standards, replacing the current single-lane 1950’s era bridge with a two-lane structure. The new bridge will be capable of supporting an unrestricted load rating, including modern trucks and carrier vehicles.

Late last year, Council met with local residents, listening to concerns about the road closure impacts and longer commute times. Residents tabled their views about the proposed six week road closure, while the prefabricated bridge is installed.

During the meeting, Council officers committed to exploring alternative options to retain access for Break O’Day Road residents during construction.

Please joins us as we provide a local community update on the assessment of options, which have considered the impacts on community disruption, environmental risks, budget constraints and timing. We will be seeking your input to determine the viability of a preferred option, before Council decides on this matter in April 2023.

If you cannot attend in person, let us know by emailing customer@murrindindi.vic.gov.au and an update will be provided to you after the meeting.

There is no need to register. Light refreshments will be provided
