The Nexus story began over forty years ago with a small local community health service employing a physiotherapist and district nurse. Today Nexus is a leading provider of primary and community health in the Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie Shires. We are committed to excellence in delivering holistic, accessible, community-based health services. We continually strive to provide the highest quality integrated person-centred health services, support, and advocacy in line with our mission.

What opportunities are there?

There are three main programs for volunteering at Nexus: Meals on Wheels, Social Support and Client Transport. There are also opportunities for administrative support.

  • Meals on Wheels volunteers deliver meals to clients who are at nutritional risk and may be socially isolated
  • Social Support volunteers provide social interaction for clients in the home or assist with community activities, e.g. shopping and coffee.
  • Client transport volunteers drive clients to their medical or other health appointments in their local area.

What benefits do volunteers bring to your group and organisation?

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation and community. We service over 140 clients over Mitchell, Murrindindi and Strathbogie, delivering 1545 meals a month to our most vulnerable community members. Only with our volunteers can we continue to provide these essential services to the wider community.
