Tell us a little about where you volunteer?

Today I am volunteering at Kinglake market with Scouts, helping Rotary welcome visitors to the market. Collecting postcodes and asking visitors for feedback. With scouts volunteering includes rubbish collection, and general helping around the community.

How did you get into volunteering?

In school there is a subject called sustainability and we’ve been encouraged to volunteer. I am 13 and play sports and appreciate the coaches and crew giving up their time. So I want to give back - volunteering makes the world go around.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

I like working in a group and as a team. Volunteering strengthens my social skills and helps me meet people. I feel proud and good when I help people.

Is there anything you find challenging about volunteering?

Getting other people to help and join volunteering can be hard.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering?

I tell all younger people - if you have free time, do volunteering.
