Tell us a little about where you volunteer?

I am involved in several community organisations including programs of the Toolangi & Castella Community House, the Community Garden, the Toolangi Recreation and Camping Reserve, the Toolangi and Castella History Project,

Friends of Leadbeater's Possum (President), Wildlife of the Central Highlands (WOTCH), and leading educational forest tours.

How did you get into volunteering?

It's something I have always done

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

Interacting with other volunteers and members of the general public while sharing my knowledge and gaining new knowledge and skills. Conducting activities to effectively promote protection of the natural environment.

Is there anything you find challenging about volunteering?

Yes. The lack of sufficient time and resources. Indifference from government (at all levels). Sometimes it is necessary to challenge government policies and processes, especially in the field of environmental protection.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering?

Focus on doing something you enjoy and are passionate about, develop your expertise and share your knowledge and skills. Share your journey with like-minded people e.g. join active groups. Celebrate your successes and learn from your failures.
