YAPPERS is Murrindindi's community theatre company, with members from across the Shire as well as from Mitchell. We present mostly light comedy and musicals, with the emphasis on involving people with little to no experience. It's drama ... without the drama!

What opportunities are there?

Community members can get involved at any level in YAPPERS - acting (of course!), writing, directing, lighting, sound, staging, wardrobe, makeup, front of house. But right now YAPPERS is preparing to step up as an organisation, establishing a team to plan and manage our strategy as well as undertaking leading administration roles including treasurer and secretary. Absolutely anyone can find a rewarding role with YAPPERS!

What benefits do volunteers bring to your group or organisation?

Our theatre company is entirely volunteer-run, so it wouldn't exist without volunteers. The important thing to know is that our volunteers get to experience the joy of seeing ideas become shows in front of audiences, and form satisfying bonds with all the people involved in making a show happen. There's no business like show business, etc. :-)

Do you have a final comment or a story to share?

Many people would do anything rather than step on stage in front of an audience (notably, a number of our actors said something like that when they joined!) but there is so much more to a theatre company than acting. The social benefits of working intensely on a three-month project with a motley group of actors, admins and technical folk can't be overstated. We create friendships and memories ... oh, and we also entertain people!
