Murrindindi Shire Council invited community members to lodge an expression of interest to join the Road Advisory Group (RAG)

Expression of Interest applications are now closed.

By joining the RAG you will learn more about the decisions and trade-offs the Council must make to respond to the diverse needs of our community. RAG members will have:

  • relevant information
  • time to read, listen and understand the information
  • opportunities to ask questions of 'experts'
  • chances to discuss your opinions with others and hear from them

What's involved in being part of the RAG?

The RAG will meet three or four times each year, for meetings that usually take around two hours. RAG members have an initial tenure of two years with an option of one additional term. Have a look at the Terms of Reference for more information.

Terms of reference

Purpose

The purpose of RAG will be to provide reference and representation of the community to Council when Council is developing or reviewing asset management related policies, strategies and plans. RAG will aim to create positive outcomes for the Council and the community.

The first project that RAG will consider is the review of Council’s Road Asset Management Plan (RAMP),

Eligibility

To participate in RAG applicants must:

  • Be a ratepayer / resident within Murrindindi Shire Local Government Area
  • Not be a current state or federal member, current councillor, or current council staff member of Murrindindi Shire
  • Demonstrate a strong connection to their local community, including at least one association with a community group or business.

Selection Process

Council's RAMP Working Group will short-list candidates for consideration and appointment by the Chief Executive Officer.

In selecting the representatives, consideration will be given to:

  • Having two members from each ward
  • Within the ward, one representing a rural area and one representing a township area.
  • Gender equality will be sought across the total group.
  • Having representation that matches, as closely as possible, the age, background and diversity of the local community as described in the most recent census data.

Successful candidates will be notified in writing by the Murrindindi Shire CEO.

Council will maintain a waiting list of registered eligible candidates to be used to backfill any unforeseeable future vacancies in RAG.
