The Marysville & District Historical Society was founded in 1969. The Society's History Centre, at 39 Darwin Street was purchased in 2010 after the devastating bushfires of 2009. Since then the Society has been rebuilding its collection and displaying it to the public. Its History Centre provides both visitors and researchers the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Marysville and its surrounds.

What opportunities are there?

Volunteer at the Society's History Centre, which is open every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12.00 pm- 3.00 pm. This is the Society's main priority and it's a great opportunity to learn about the area's history and to interact with visitors. The Society also holds an extraordinary collection of historical items, all of which have been donated.

What benefits do volunteers bring to your group and organisation?

The Society is a volunteer-run organisation that has rebuilt its collection since 2010 through the efforts of its volunteers and the support of the wider community. Volunteers also assist in ensuring that the Society's History Centre is open to the public four days per week. Volunteers also participate in the digitisation and cataloguing of the Society's collection for uploading onto Victorian Collections.
