I volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Eildon, and I coordinate the other Meals on Wheels volunteers.

How did you get into volunteering?

I couldn't tell you what year it was, but it was many, many years ago. An elderly lady I knew first decided to get Meals on Wheels happening in Eildon. She set up a committee and I immediately got involved. At that time, we had about 15 people getting meals. Originally, we had to charge people for the meal and it was fifty cents. It was much better when we didn't need to do that!

What do you enjoy most about volunteering?

I really enjoy meeting and getting to know the people that I give the meals to, that's very special. And knowing that Meals on Wheels helps people to stay in their own homes for longer is very rewarding.

Is there anything you find challenging about volunteering?

I enjoy everything about volunteering - except for doing the rosters!

What would you tell someone who is thinking about volunteering?

Please consider joining in as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels! We need you! Amongst our volunteers, everyone is getting older and we really appreciate new volunteers.
